Some exciting programs currently taking place in Iowa are the FRESHwater program and the Water in Progress internship program.

  • FRESHwater and Water in Progress are both Iowa homegrown programs to educate and bring young people into the field of Water.

  •

  • FRESHwater introduces high school students and teachers to the drinking water and wastewater field through hands-on research, facility tours, consulting firm visits, career exploration, and professional mentoring. FRESHwater creates a pipeline to allow students to study environmental engineering and join the water and wastewater field.

FRESHwater is held in collaboration with Iowa State University, Science Bound, the Iowa Water Environment Association, and the Iowa American Water Works Association.

Water in Progress places high school students in water/wastewater facility operator internships, helping young people find careers as water and wastewater facility operators.
